Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced Applications Engineer with a background in electrical
engineering and manufacturing to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the installation and implementation of our AI vision inspection systems at customer sites across China. You will also provide hands-on training to our clients, ensuring the successful integration of our technology into their manufacturing processes. Your ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and drive project success will be key to your role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel to customer locations (80% travel) across China, including Shenzhen, Shanghai, and other key manufacturing hubs, to install, configure, and optimize Overview.ai’s vision inspection systems.
- Provide technical training to customers on how to operate and maintain our AI systems.
- Collaborate with customers to ensure projects stay on track and achieve successful outcomes.
- Work closely with internal teams, including engineering and sales, to customize solutions based on customer needs.
- Maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction and address any technical challenges that may arise.
- Serve as a technical advisor, troubleshooting and resolving on-site issues related to electrical engineering, controls, and CAD-based system configurations.
- Collect and act on customer feedback to contribute to product improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, with a solid understanding of CAD and controls engineering.
- Experience with machine vision systems is a significant plus.
- Native Mandarin speaker with fluency in English, both written and verbal.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage timelines and customer expectations effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, with a focus on customer service and relationship management.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing priorities.

Controls Engineer

Role Overview:
We are looking for a skilled and adaptable Controls Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and optimizing Overview.ai’s AI vision inspection systems on various customer automation lines. These automation lines often involve a range of PLCs and communication protocols, so we need someone who can work across multiple systems, diagnose issues, and quickly identify solutions. Your expertise in electrical work, PLCs, and communication protocols will be essential in ensuring the smooth integration of our systems and the resolution of any technical challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot Overview.ai’s vision inspection systems across various automation lines, working with different PLCs and communication protocols, including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, and OPC UA.
Ensure seamless integration between our AI-powered cameras and other devices on the automation line by troubleshooting electrical signals and communication.
- Use multimeters and oscilloscopes to debug electrical issues and fix problems related to signal quality, camera triggering, or inconsistent lighting.
- Solve technical issues such as double triggering, improper camera responses, or electrical signal irregularities by adjusting system configurations or making modifications to PLC ladder logic.
- Provide on-site support and technical guidance to customers, ensuring smooth system operation and the resolution of any challenges related to integration.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to refine product features and address common customer pain points based on feedback from the field.
- Assist with the development and implementation of training programs for customers to operate and maintain the systems effectively.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in automation projects, with expertise in multiple PLC systems (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Modbus, OPC UA).
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting electrical circuits using multimeters and oscilloscopes, including the ability to modify circuits (e.g., adding resistors or capacitors) to resolve signal issues.
- Strong understanding of electrical principles, including the differences between NPN and PNP sensors, and how to troubleshoot these systems.
- Familiarity with PLC ladder logic and its modification to troubleshoot issues.
- Fluent in Mandarin and English (both written and verbal).
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills, with a strong focus on practical
solutions.

In this role, you will be responsible for deploying and integrating our AI-driven vision inspection systems with various manufacturing automation systems, including PLCs and MES platforms. You will use your deep experience in Node-RED and JavaScript to build seamless communication between our systems and customer environments, developing dashboards and workflows that drive operational success. The ideal candidate will have a strong software engineering background, along with extensive experience in manufacturing environments, allowing them to bridge the gap between technical development and real-world applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Use Node-RED to interface with a variety of PLCs, MES, and manufacturing automation systems, enabling smooth communication and integration of Overview.ai’s vision inspection systems.
- Design and build custom dashboards and workflows in Node-RED to optimize the performance of customer systems and improve operational efficiency.
- Work closely with customers to understand their specific needs and tailor solutions that integrate seamlessly with their existing manufacturing processes.
- Provide technical leadership in deploying and configuring systems on-site, ensuring smooth installation and setup of the AI vision inspection systems.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams to develop and refine Node-RED-based solutions that meet customer requirements.
